COLLECTION: california tidepools

Each time I visit the tidepools, I am overwhelmed with amazement at the incredible abundance of strange and alien lifeforms lurking just below the surface at the ocean’s edge. The intertidal zone exists between two worlds, a truly liminal place. I see myself as a humble guest in these creatures’ homes.
It is an enchanting experience to witness the fabulous, extravagant sunburst anemones, sit quietly next to a pool waiting for the hermit crabs to relax and come out of their shells, or find a tiny nudibranch I have never seen before.
The images I create are interpretive rather than purely documentary, and I take plenty of creative liberties in editing. They express my personal experience of awe and wonder of tidepool life. In viewing these images, I hope you will experience a piece of that awe and wonder yourself.
